One of the world’s leading electrification and automation companies, ABB has secured contracts worth more than EGP 200 million with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to deploy UniGear ZS1 medium-voltage switchgear across several power stations in Cairo. The investment will support Egypt’s ongoing grid modernisation, improve the reliability of power distribution, and contribute to the country’s electrification and sustainability goals.
Today, ABB in Egypt signed two contracts with Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to supply and deploy UniGear ZS1 medium-voltage switchgear across multiple power stations in Cairo Governorate. The contracts, totaling over EGP 200 million ($4 million), were signed by Eng. Mona Rezk, Chairwoman, EETC, and Ahmed Hammad, Chairman, ABB in Egypt.
This strategic partnership reinforces ABB’s commitment to supporting the modernization of the country’s energy infrastructure and underscores the vital role of advanced electrical components in enabling reliable, efficient, and sustainable power distribution to the nation’s rapidly expanding urban and industrial sectors.

The air-insulated switchgear up to 24 kV combines future-ready compliance, simplified maintenance and flexible deployment, helping utilities and industries address growing electricity demand while reducing operational complexity. Designed for reliable operation in demanding environments, UniGear ZS1 can also be complemented with ABB’s protection, control and sensing technologies, supporting enhanced visibility, efficient asset management and dependable power distribution.
