South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed a new minimum wage bill, which is expected to become law January 2019.
The new minimum wage will be 3,500 rand per month, which is around $242 and £199. It is hoped that a minimum wage set at this rate will combat inequality among South Africa’s workers and boost the country’s economic growth and development.
